Questions

Is the balance sheet template free?+

Yes — fill in the sections and print or save your balance sheet as a PDF free, no signup. Excel export comes with paid plans.

What goes on a balance sheet?+

Assets (what you own: cash, receivables, inventory, equipment), liabilities (what you owe: payables, cards, loans), and equity. The golden rule: Assets = Liabilities + Equity — our totals make the check obvious.

What is a personal financial statement (PFS)?+

The statement of personal assets and liabilities that banks require for SBA loans, commercial mortgages, and personal guarantees. Switch the type to Personal Financial Statement — the sections match what lenders expect (SBA Form 413 style).

Can I make a profit & loss statement too?+

Yes — the P&L type gives you Revenue, COGS, and Operating Expenses sections with net income math. It's the statement landlords and lenders ask self-employed applicants for.

Will lenders accept this?+

The layout follows standard accounting presentation — sections, line items, and totals a loan officer expects. For audited statements you need a CPA; for the routine 'send us a balance sheet/PFS' request, this is exactly that document.

My balance sheet doesn't balance — what's wrong?+

If Assets ≠ Liabilities + Equity, something is missing or double-counted — usually retained earnings or an owner draw. The live section totals help you find the gap fast.
